Style Guide: 4th of July
We're days away from one of my favorite holidays. I love the 4th of July for so many reasons. I have spent close to every 4th on Cape Cod with my family. I love the BBQs, fireworks, ice cream late night, sparklers and all things red, white and blue. Above all, its such a perfect day to spend with friends and family with little stress around presents and allows us to focus on America's independence. What I love most is my Uncle's 4th of July flag raising ceremony. The ceremony has transformed over the years - in presentation, as well as the crowd of neighbors who join in to participate. My Uncle is a retired U.S. Marine, so his honor and dedication to the United States bleeds through his veins.
Another tradition that I've grown to love has developed over the past few years. My sister, brother-in-law and I started a new tradition of finding a good brunch spot for the morning of the 4th. Starting the day with a delicious mimosa and an omelet is truly an American delight, right? It's small things like this that make me so excited for the 4th. This year will be my nephew's first celebration and it should be no surprise that my sister will have this cutie all decked out in red, white and blue. AND, I can't forget #KlassicKarsen's birthday. While Karsen will not be with us down the Cape this year, Dennis and I will be celebrating early for his 2nd birthday. My crazy firecracker of a dog shares a birthday with the USA and we'll be sure to treat him to a pupsicle or mini cake for his special day.
I love planning my 4th of July outfit. I typically bring multiple options with me because on the Cape, it could be hot and 80-degrees one minute, and then rainy and 60 the next. I am still planning my "day of" ensemble, but I love this romper that I found for $9 at Primark! While I don't think I'll wear it for the 4th BBQ, its perfect to throw on as a beach cover-up or even a casual brunch outing. It's so comfortable and I really couldn't resist buying it when I saw it was only $9.
My (girl) cousins are also really into finding the perfect 4th of July outfit, too. I can't wait to see what they wear. Although, I'm pretty sure all eyes will be on the little man's outfit and photo shoot (photos to come!) While I'm still finalizing my outfit, I've pulled together a few awesome pieces that are potential options for me that I thought y'all would love, too.
At the end of the day, it doesn't matter what we are wearing on July 4th, 2017. What matters is that the United States of America is the greatest country in the world. We are fortunate to be able to celebrate our independence and live in a country where our freedom is appreciated.
