New Year, New Goals
I've spent the majority of the first day of 2018 on the couch watching Wentworth (highly recommend it if you are into Orange is the New Black) on Netflix. I feel excited about the year ahead and also full of uncertainty. In 2017, I sold my first condo and bought a house. The past three months have been stressful, thrilling and also inclusive of a lot of big decisions as I rebuild my home. I'm so thankful to have a roof over my head, a soul mate who is my best friend and a family to lean on during the good times and bad.
Lately, my head has been filled with so many thoughts. I love that I've started this blog so I can communicate and hear from others. It's a 2-way street. It's not just me sharing, but rather a community of all of us coming together to share and learn and create. But I also wonder... Am I in the right place in my career? How can I evolve Klassically Kaytee over 2018 in order to deliver the best content for my followers? How do I know what is most important at the right time? I'm a stereotypical over-analyzer. I sometimes get in my own head (ok, all the time!).
Day 1 of 365: I'm defining and adhering to some new goals. These goals are for ME. I think it's time to be a tad bit selfish and sit back, be present and do things that make me happy.
1. For anyone who knows me, its no surprise that I struggle with saving money. I feel like I save and save... and then SOMETHING happens that causes all that work to disappear. This year, I vow to save money and be more financially intelligent. I'm pretty sure this is a goal every year, but I have already begun to dive into ways to save and how to be more responsible. I'll be sharing more soon!
2. I will appreciate all that I have and all that is given to me. Over the last few months of the house renovation, I've learned that I need to accept and allow things to be out of my control. This was a big realization for me. I'm the type of person who needs to know that I have control and that I ultimately direct the outcome of any situation. A lot of friends around me, including several bloggers who I follow religiously, continue to communicate this. It's ok to give up control. Not everything is going to go exactly as I have planned. I listen to a lot of bloggers talk about their faith and their belief in God. While I may not be the most religious person, I still interpret this belief in a higher power producing outcomes - when and how they should be. I alone can not change the world, but there is a meaning to every instance that happens.
3. Kindess. I will sprinkle it over every one and every thing. Being kind takes no money. It takes little of you and no time from the day. It's really the most simple thing we can do. Yes, I said WE. I will engage in random acts, timely acts and even acts that may cost me - of my own warmth or of my own hunger. I challenge all of you to embark on this same journey.
What are your goals? What are you challenging yourself on in 2018? I'd love to hear your resolutions and how you plan to achieve them.
