In March, my college girlfriends and I are bringing the heat to Iceland. With temps forecasted to max out around mid-40s, I'm planning on bringing only the warmest pieces from my closet to keep me warm. As any trip requires, a few items are on my wish list so that I'm appropriately attired for Icelandic weather. My girlfriend and I went shopping this week and could not stop talking about all the comfy & cozy sweaters that we'll be rocking during this trip. Anything to stay warm!
One of the first stops we plan to make is to the Blue Lagoon geothermal spa. This tourist destination is on of the 25 Wonders of the World. I've read that its recommended to not go under water because it can really dry out your hair and make it almost cardboard-like. That doesn't mean we're not going in!! I'm sure the arctic air will be quickly dismissed as soon as we step into the 98-104°F water. I've yet to rock a one-piece bathing suit, but there's SO many awesome ones out right now that I'm thinking this is the perfect opportunity to do so.
Here are my favorites:
A majority of our trip will be spent walking around the city of Reykjavik which is said to have weather extremes just like New England - sunny one minute, torrential downpours the next. I plan to keep my cute booties and anything NON water resistant at home for this one. With Christmas right around the corner, I thought it was the opportune time to add water-proof, slip resistant boots to the list for Santa. Living in Boston, I have semi-decent winter boots for shoveling and cleaning off my car, but I rarely wear them beyond my driveway.
These are some of the best ones I've found:
The peak of our trip will be venturing out at night to see the Northern Lights (above photo.) The lights are visible (weather-permitting) 8 months out of the year from September to April. Fingers crossed we'll get a good view on the night we go. To prepare for this extra-chilly excursion, I'm on the search for the perfect winter hat. I'd love recommendations for any companies that make winter hats in sizes because my head is on the smaller side (WHAT?) and it's always hard to find the good fit. I've been scouring the sites the past few weeks.
What do you think of these?
