Wow. Owning a condo was hard, but I DID NOT expect the major jump in difficulty going from a small condo to a full on HOUSE. There is seriously so much to do since I didn't buy a "move in ready" home. I made my first decision last week in selecting a fencing company for the backyard. Clearly, Klassic Karsen is my main priority. The backyard is huge and would be a complete waste if Karsen couldn't run around like a crazy monkey every day of his life, right? Freedom for K: coming in 4 weeks.
Pretty much every room of the house is getting some sort of upgrade/make-over. However, being the fashion-obsessed blogger that I am... I have already been underway on my walk-in closet. It's not really a closet, but rather an entire ROOM. Dreams do come true. All this room requires is a fresh coat of paint to brighten it up. I have the basics in place already: a desk for working, mirror, rug and garment racks for dresses. Most of my tops are in another room/closet - Ha! This room is definitely a work-in-progress, but I wanted to give y'all a sneak peek today.
I found this desk at Home Goods. I had my heart set on finding an all plastic desk, but the price point was out of control. After I found this desk, I was torn on what to do for a chair. When I saw this beauty at TJ Maxx, it was a done deal. I work from home, so a bright and spacious "office" space is a necessity. I never really had a space at my condo (I sat on my couch or kitchen table), so this is a much-needed sanctuary for me.
Eventually, I will have a professional come in and build custom storage to fit every piece in its place. Until then, I purchased these portable racks from Ikea and they do the trick for my long dresses/skirts. You'll see my shoe storage is a tad wonky at the moment, too. These cubbies are from The Container Store. I actually really like them, but as you can see, I need a few more!
I got this floor length mirror a few years back. I love it! I get so many compliments when friends and family come over. It's the perfect size and its a great statement piece in the room. The one I have is no longer sold, but here are a few options if you're looking for a huge mirror like this one:
There are SO many more exciting projects coming up that I can't wait to share with you all. I may have mentioned that I have ZERO patience. This whole house renovation is really going to test my patience, but I think it will be fun to capture it all, document and share! If anyone has recently gone through major home renovations, I'd love to hear any tips you may have.
